For example, say you live in San Diego and you’re looking for a landscaper, you wouldn’t search “landscaper”, rather you would probably search for “landscaper San Diego” or “lawn care services in San Diego”.

For bigger cities the searches would be even more specific.

So someone living in Brooklyn wouldn’t search for “Dentist New York” and instead they would probably be searching for something like “Dentist in Brooklyn or “Best Dentists in Brooklyn”.

Finding the keywords is really easy and although there are some more advanced steps to finding the best ones you can simply start with some search terms like:

  • Landscaping + city
  • Lawn care + city
  • Lawn care services in + city
  • Landscaping in + neighborhood
  • Landscaping in + state

You can also target even more specific keywords for a certain service that you offer.

For example, some more specifics search terms you can target include:

  • Grass cutting in + city
  • Lawn sprinkler installation in + state

There are a few different SEO tools that you can use to find keywords but when you’re just getting started you can try to think of them on your own to see what you can come up with.

Google Keyword Planner is a great tool you can use to get started and you can even use the basic Google Search bar suggestions to see what you can find.

Create and Use Your Google My Business Account

Google My Business is a free business listing that you can create and start using for your landscaping or lawn care company.

You can use it to create a local listing so that potential customers in your community will be more easily able to find your business and contact you for more information.

Setting it up is very easy and there is a guided tour that you can go through on how to set your business up properly on the platform.

Some basic optimization that you’ll need include general information about your company, the phone number, location address, website URL,  and the categories that you want your business to be displayed in.

After setting everything up there are a bunch of different tools that you can access such as the  Analytics as well as the Reviews section of the listing.
