Being able to embed an Instagram photo on your WordPress blog posts (or any other CMS that you’re using) can make it easier for you add captivating images to your content and make it more enjoyable for your visitors to read.
Sometimes you just can’t find the photo you need at one of your copyright-free image sites so it can be a good idea to turn to Instagram to see what you can find there.
Photos help to make your blog posts and content more interesting to read and they break up the monotony of those big blocks of text that you typically encounter when you’re reading something online.
Instagram is quite popular these days with hundreds of millions of different photos uploaded onto the social media website so there really are an endless amount of options when it comes to finding pictures that you can use.
I started to notice these Instagram photos when I was searching for “cheap eats in XXX city” and quickly realized that they are quite prominent on a wide range of different blogs and websites.
Today I want to show you how you can embed an Instagram photo or video on your blog or website posts.
Embedding Instagram Photos in Your Blog or Website Content
The steps are actually very straightforward and thankfully you don’t have to install any plugins or download anything to start using Instagram photos.
Here’s how to do it:
The first thing you’re going to want to do is head over to Instagram.com on whatever web browser are you using.
To be able to search through different photos and use the desktop version of the website you’re going to need an Instagram account so if you don’t already have one you can quickly sign up.
At the top you should see a search box and you’re going to want to search for a relevant keyword for whatever type of photo you’re looking for.
Say you’re looking for a photo of apple pie – you’re just going to type apple pie into the search box and then hit enter to see your results.
Once the results are displayed you’ll be able to choose from quite a few different images.
For “apple pie” alone there are more than 1.2 million different photos so the options are really endless.
On Instagram the photos are sorted into two different sections – the top posts at the top with the recent posts being displayed right underneath.
Once you have found a photo that you like you simply just want to click on the photo so that it expands on your screen and then look for the three dots at the bottom right of the image pop-up.
When you click these three dots you’ll be presented with a choice to “Report inappropriate”, “Embed”, “Cancel”.
In this case you’re going to want to click on “Embed”.
After clicking on Embed you’ll be presented with another pop-up box with the code that you need to add the Instagram photo to your website.
Here you can choose whether or not to include the caption with the photo and once you’re ready to use it you simply need to click on “ Copy Embed Code”.
Once you have the embed code copied you can now add the photo to your blog post or website.
Whether you’re adding it to to a new post or to an existing one you’re going to need to click on the “text” option of your post editor.
I’m only familiar with doing this using WordPress and if you’re using a different content management system you need to visit the area where you can edit the HTML of your blog posts.
Paste the embedded code that you have previously copied wherever you want the photo displayed and then return back to the text editor part or just save/update your post so that the photo will be visible.
You can see down below the apple pie photo that I found on Instagram and if you want to use just the photo without the caption then simply click that option off when you’re copying the embed code.
And that’s it!
Is it weird that I’m jealous of the southern hemisphere because they’re entering their Fall? 🙄😂😉 #takemeback #appleseason #fallvibes #fallingforyou #livefolk #applepie #applecaramelcrumblepie #foodstyling #foodphotography #feedfeed #f52grams #yahoofood #buzzfeedfood#livethelittlethings #thatsdarling #abmlifeissweet #thefarmersdaughter
Embedding Instagram photos on your blog posts or website is really that easy and straightforward so there’s really no reason not to do it if you’re looking for high quality images that you can use with your content.
